Progressing gradually is essential for long-term sustainability and injury prevention. You can increase repetitions, resistance, or range of motion over time rather than starting with exhausting sessions. This left them with a net reduction of 5.6% from baseline. While we do not yet have a tablet-specific discontinuation result from OASIS 4, the biological mechanism for regain remains a critical consideration.

Weight regain after medication withdrawal is heavily influenced by reduced energy expenditure and the rapid return of normal hunger signaling. Prof. Nixdorff warns that tapering medication without changing lifestyle habits can produce a yo-yo effect. Building a solid foundation of functional movement strategies creates a physical buffer against these inevitable metabolic shifts. Discontinuing treatment should always be planned clinically rather than framed as a test of personal discipline.

It is vital to remember that a 13.6% average loss of starting body weight is only a preliminary metric for better health. True metabolic success depends on what type of tissue you lose and what physical capabilities you retain throughout the process. Medication can provide a powerful tool for reducing total mass, but intentional nutrition and exercise dictate the quality of your results.
